Only five miles long and two and a half miles wide, the Island of Women is just a short ferry ride from Cancún’s port. This enchanting island is the perfect place to spend a lazy day taking in the sun on one of its beautiful, pristine beaches. The 20 minute ferry ride departs from the dock at Playa Tortugas in the hotel zone or from Puerto Juarez in downtown Cancún.
Isla is a laid back place where you can find anything your heart desires – from snorkeling and swimming in the Mexican Caribbean’s aqua blue waters to finding local crafts to take home. Visitors can also explore a sea turtle sanctuary and a pirate’s fortress, Hacienda Mundaca.
The island is also home to a Mayan temple erected in honor of Ixchel, the goddess of fertility, and Garrafon National park, a natural coral reef park where you’ll find great zip-lining, a garden that honors the Mayan civilization, and relaxing hammocks with the most amazing ocean views.
