The Cancun hotel group successfully hosted the three-day competition involving 16 teams from Mexico, Argentina, Guatemala and Venezuela.
Cancun, Q. Roo — With the participation from 16 teams from Mexico, Argentina, Guatemala and Venezuela, Sunset World hosted the Bilin Bilin Cup sailing race at the Ocean Spa hotel.
The Hobie Cat 16 class race included the participation of North American champions and the four teams representing their countries in the Pan American games to be held this year in the city of Guadalajara.
The 3-day event was a success due to the wide beach and perfect location facing Isla Mujeres. During the 10 individual races in the three categories, participants had the opportunity to see manta rays, dolphins, and turtles.
In Category A, the first place winners were Yamil Saba and Gonzalo Cendra (Venezuela), the second place was Lucas and Moira Gonzalez Smith (Argentina), and the third place was Armando Noriega, Jr. and Mariana Riva Palacios (Mexico).
The winners of Category B were first place Andrea Mier and Teran and Andrea Dutton (Merida and Cancun); second place Imanol and Annie Luisa (Cancun); and third place for Armando Noriega and Gerardo Osoard (Valle de Bravo).
In Category C, the first place was won by Eric Raeder and Sophie Carter (Puebla), the second place went to Andrea and Luisa Jokin (Cancun), and third place to Mario Villanueva and Lizeth Cota (Merida).
Bilin Bilin jewelry, one of the first jewelers of the area, has organized the cup that bears its name for 6 consecutive years—maintaining a high level of competition and high quality in organization.
Other particpatns were: Nicolas Rogers and Diana Caballeros (Guatemala), Jason hess and Guillermo Sanchez (Guatemala), Javier Cabildo and Mauricio Duhart (Puerto Vallarta), Yvan Duez and Eric Lerch (Puebla), German Saavedra and Bernardo Duhart (Cancun), Ernesto and Alejandra Raeder (Puebla), and Carlota Iturbide and Alix Lerch (Valle de Bravo and Puebla).
